DU Women’s Soccer Begins Five-Match Road Trip at Eastern Washington

Kickoff between Denver, Eastern Washington set for 5 p.m. MT on Thursday

WHO: Denver (2-1-1, 0-0-0 Summit) at Eastern Washington (0-2-2, 0-0-0 Big Sky)
WHAT: First match of Denver's five-match road trip
WHERE: EWU Soccer Field (Cheney, Washington)
WHEN: Thursday, September 1, at 5 p.m. MT / 4 p.m. PT

LAST TIME OUT:
Denver earned a 1-1 draw against Arizona State at home on Sunday, August 28. After going down 0-1 early, graduate student Camryn MacMillan drew Denver even with ASU in the 24th minute off feeds from senior Kaitlyn Glover and junior Vanessa Murray. The match was scoreless in the second half with only one shot on goal for either team.

QUICK HITS:
  • MacMillan's two goals last week each came during the 24th minute.
  • Redshirt senior Nerea Arrazola has extended her streak as Denver's starting keeper to 46 matches, dating back to February 6, 2021. The Week 1 Summit League Defensive Peak Performer of the Week has two shutouts on the season.
  • Nine Pioneers have at least one shot on target so far this year with graduate student Sami Feller leading the way with five.
  • After facing off against two Pac-12 opponents last week (August 25 at Utah, August 28 versus Arizona State), Denver will meet two more Pac-12 teams in Washington State on September 4 and Colorado on September 17.
  • Thursday's match is the first of a five-match road trip for Denver that will conclude its 2022 non-conference slate.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES:
Eastern Washington lost 1-3 at Washington State (which is Denver's next opponent) on Sunday, August 28. The match was tied at halftime after Madison Kem converted on a 22nd-minute penalty kick to pull the match even at 1-1.

This will be just the second all-time meeting between Denver and Eastern Washington. Their only previous meeting was a 1-0 win for DU on September 9, 2018, in Denver. The teams have never met at EWU.

WHAT'S NEXT:
Denver continues its five-match road trip with its third Pac-12 opponent of the year, visiting Washington State on Sunday, September 4, at 7 p.m. MT/6 p.m. PT.
