Denver Women’s Soccer Heads to Washington State on Sunday

DU set for third Pac-12 match of 2022, second of five straight roads matches

WHO: Denver (2-2-1, 0-0-0 Summit) at Washington State (2-1-1, 0-0-0 Pac-12)
WHAT: Denver's third match against a Pac-12 opponent
WHERE: Lower Soccer Field (Pullman, Washington)
WHEN: Sunday, September 4, at 7 p.m. MT / 6 p.m. PT

LAST TIME OUT:
Despite leading in shots (12-8), Denver fell 0-1 to Eastern Washington on Thursday night after an 82nd-minute goal for the Eagles. Among Denver's scoring chances were two crossbars from sophomore Jadyn Goodrich in the 17th minute and from junior Ella Frost in the 50th minute.

QUICK HITS:
  • Frost's game-leading five shots on Thursday at EWU were a new career high, and the junior now leads Denver in shots attempted with nine.
  • Seven different Pioneers had a shot in the first half of the Eastern Washington match, and they combined for a total of 12 shots in the game, equaling DU's most so far in a match this season.
  • Ten Pioneers have at least one shot on target so far this year with graduate student Sami Feller leading the way with five.
  • Sunday's match will be Denver's third of four against a Pac-12 Conference team. DU has already faced Utah (August 25) and Arizona State (August 28), and will next meet Colorado on September 17.
  • Sunday's match is the second of a five-match road trip for Denver that will conclude its 2022 non-conference slate.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS:
Washington State's last-minute goal led the Cougars to a 2-1 win at Seattle on Thursday. Jenna Studer's game-winner in the final 45 seconds of play broke the 1-1 tie after teammate Grayson Lynch gave WSU its first lead of the match in the 20th minute.

Denver and Washington State have met four times previously with DU sitting on a 1-2-1 record. Their most recent meeting was a 2-0 WSU win in Denver on September 16, 2021. The teams have never met at Washington State with their other three meetings coming at neutral sites.

WHAT'S NEXT:
Denver continues its five-match road trip with a return trip to the West Coast, visiting San Jose State on Thursday, September 8, at 5:30 p.m. MT / 4:30 p.m. PT.
