AUSTIN, TX --The Denver volleyball team lost to the UC Davis Aggies in four sets (19-25, 25-16, 20-25, 11-25) Thursday at Gregory Gym.

The non-conference loss moved Denver to 3-4 on the season.

The Pioneers attack was paced by Jordan Lockwood, who finished with 12 kills on the day, and by Hailey Green, who had 10 while hitting .259. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Gianna Bartalo had 19 and Ryen Wilkens had 10. From the front row, Brianna Green contributed five blocks.

SET 1 | The Pioneers fell behind early, losing a tough first set 25-19. Denver trailed by as many as seven points as UC Davis grabbed the advantage for good at 13-12 in a set that was notted up eight times before the Aggies took control.

SET 2 | Denver responded to pick up a 25-16 victory in set two, evening the match at one set apiece. The Pioneers never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 10-9 in a set that showcased four lead changes before Denver took over the lead. The Pioneers hit .300 over the course of the set. The Denver offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza. Denver's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four UC Davis attacks in the stanza.

SET 3 | UC Davis took a 2-1 match lead after taking down the Pioneers in set three. The Pioneers lost the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before falling in the set 25-20.

SET 4 | Denver then dropped the fourth set 25-11 to finish off the match. The Pioneers trailed by as many as 14 points as UC Davis grabbed the advantage for good at 3-2 and Denver wasn't able to recover in a set that was knotted up two times before the Aggies took over.
