SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of Denver women's golf team was picked first while the men were picked third in the annual Summit League Preseason Poll on Thursday in a release by the league.
On the women's side, the Pioneers were picked first for a 10th straight season. DU received eight out of the nine votes as coaches cannot vote for their own team.
Senior golfer
Anna Zanusso was tabbed as a "Player to Watch" by the league. The Italy native has had it going so far this year, posting a 71.92 scoring average, highlighted by fourth-place finish at the Dick McGuire Invitational.
As a team, the Crimson and Gold come into the 2023 spring with a roster that brings everyone back essentially and ready to make a move to get into the NCAA Championship.The Pioneers have all the pieces to look to challenge for an eighth league title in the last nine years and a coach in Martha Richards to provide the leadership to take them there.
On the men's side, the defending Summit League Champions for the past three years were picked third, snapping a three-year run of being picked as the favorites. Head coach Logan Goulding
, the reigning coach of the year, looks to lead the youthful Pioneers which still features a veteran presence in graduate student
Carson Griggs.
