How It Happened
After jumping out to a 6-4 advantage, Denver went on a 13-0 run with 6:45 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Haar, to increase its lead to 19-4. The Pioneers then lost some of that lead, but still entered the quarter break with a 24-13 advantage. Denver relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down five shots to account for 15 of its 24 points.

Denver kept its first quarter lead intact before going on a 6-0 run starting at the 54 seconds mark in the second period, highlighted by a bucket from Brandon, to increase its lead to 39-27, a score that would hold until halftime.

After intermission, Denver held on to its advantage and owned a 52-44 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Denver played well near the basket, scoring eight of its 13 points in the paint, and the other five from the free-throw line.

Denver kept its lead intact before going on a 6-0 run to grow the lead to 63-50 with 1:51 to go in the contest. The Leathernecks narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Pioneers still cruised the rest of the way for the 70-58 win. Denver fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down three shots to account for nine of its 18 points.
