Smith, Minett Named to 2023-24 Summit League Preseason Second Team

Smith averaged 13.4 points per game and Minett led the conference with 2.5 blocks per game.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - University of Denver's fifth year forward Makayla Minett and sophomore guard Emma Smith have been named to the 2023-24 Summit League Preseason Second Team, the league office announced from its annual media day in Sioux Falls on Tuesday.
Minett started all 30 games for the Pioneers a year ago, averaging 8.4 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots per game. Following her Senior season, Minett was named Summit League Defensive Player of the Year and a Summit League Honorable Mention. She ranked ninth in the country in blocks per game and 13th in total blocks (75).
Smith started 29 of 30 games in her freshman season, averaging 33.5 minutes, 13.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Following her initial campaign in the Summit League Smith was named a Summit League Honorable Mention. She made 64 three-point field goals, making her the 14th Pioneer to finish with at least 60 in a season and is the 10th-most in the program's DI history.
