DU Women’s Soccer Heads to North Dakota State on Thursday

Denver opens final week of regular season with penultimate Summit League match

WHO: Denver (9-1-5, 5-0-1 Summit) at North Dakota State (4-6-6, 0-3-4 Summit)
WHAT: Denver's penultimate regular-season match
WHERE: Dacotah Field (Fargo, North Dakota)
WHEN: Thursday, October 19, at 6:30 p.m. CT/5:30 p.m. MT

LAST TIME OUT:
Denver topped Kansas City, 1-0, in its final home match of the regular season on October 12. Freshman Michaela McGowan had the match's only goal with her 35th-minute strike with helpers from sophomore Lily O'Grady and junior Jadyn Goodrich. Freshman Molly Wissman collected her sixth cleansheet of the year.

QUICK HITS:
  • In the match against Kansas City, Denver set a season high for corners (15) and tied its second-highest shots in a first half (12) this year.
  • McGowan became the eighth different Pioneer to score a game winner this year. Only fellow freshman Liv Moritz has multiple game-winning goals with two.
  • Graduate student Kaitlyn Glover is one match away from her 91st, which would move her into a tie for the third-most in DU's Division I history.
  • Junior Ella Frost extended her team-leading streak of matches with at least one shot attempt to 12 with her two against Kansas City.
SCOUTING THE BISON:
This will be the 15th meeting between Denver and North Dakota State with DU holding a 12-1-1 record. The teams played in Denver last season on September 23 in a 2-0 win for DU. The last time the teams met in Fargo was a 4-0 Denver victory on October 24, 2021.

The Bison are coming off a 2-1 loss at South Dakota on October 15. USD jumped out to a 2-0 win through the first 10:03 played, but NDSU's Amaya Garrett narrowed the gap with a 65th-minute goal – her fourth of the year.

Denver concludes the 2023 regular season at North Dakota on Sunday, October 22, at 1 p.m. CT/12 p.m. MT.
