DU Women’s Soccer Wraps Up Regular Season at North Dakota

Denver closes regular season on Sunday with chance to secure Summit League regular-season title

WHAT: Denver's regular-season finale

LAST TIME OUT:
Denver dropped a 1-0 decision at North Dakota State in its penultimate match of the regular season on Thursday. NDSU's Paige Goaley settled a rebound off the crossbar before sneaking the ball past DU's defensive line in the 69th minute in what would be the only goal of the match.

QUICK HITS:
  • Denver can clinch the 2023 Summit League regular-season title – its sixth in a row and the eighth time overall – with:
    • A win at North Dakota, OR
    • A South Dakota State loss or tie at Kansas City
  • Freshman Molly Wissman became the first Denver goal keeper since Nerea Arrazola on February 21, 2021, to save a non-shootout penalty shot with her stop at North Dakota State.
  • For the third time this season, Denver held its opponent without a corner kick on Thursday.
  • Graduate student Kaitlyn Glover played in her 91st match with her start at NDSU, moving her into a tie for third-most matches played in Denver's Division I history.
  • Fellow graduate student Camryn MacMillan has now played in 81 matches, making her one of 35 Pioneers to eclipse 90 career matches played.
SCOUTING THE FIGHTING HAWKS:
This will be the eighth meeting between Denver and North Dakota with DU winning all seven previous matches including a 2-0 win at home on September 25, 2022, in their most recent meeting. DU last traveled to UND on October 22, 2021, in a 6-0 Denver win.

The Fighting Hawks are coming off a scoreless draw at St. Thomas on October 19, despite being out shot, 22-7 (7-3 on target) with the help of goalkeeper Madi Livingston's seven saves.

WHAT'S NEXT:
Denver has clinched a spot as one of two hosts for the first two rounds of the 2023 Summit League tournament, set for October 27-29. DU will receive a bye into the semifinals and will await final tournament selections and seedings, to be finalized following the Omaha at South Dakota State match on October 24.
