DENVER – Junior
Jack Devine of the University of Denver hockey team was named the NCHC Forward of the Week, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference announced on Monday.
Devine picks up his second career Forward of the Week honor after also earning the award as a sophomore on Feb. 20, 2023. This is his fourth weekly accolade from the league, as he was also twice named Rookie of the Week during the 2021-22 campaign.
The Glencoe, Illinois, native helped the Pioneers win both games on opening weekend, defeating the Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks 7-3 on Saturday in the season opener before earning a 5-2 victory on Sunday. Devine totaled six points (two goals, four assists) over the course of two games and registered four power-play points (3g/1a).
The winger began the season by tying a career high with two goals and two assists on opening night on Saturday. It was his third four-point performance of his collegiate tenure and first since scoring four goals in Game 1 of the NCHC Quarterfinals against Miami this past March 10.
After picking up a goal and an assist on DU power plays to help DU go 2-for-7 with the extra man in the series opener, Devine registered two more man-advantage tallies on Sunday. He finished with a hand in all four of the Pioneers' power-play markers on the weekend.
Minnesota Duluth's Anthony Menghini and Zach Stejskal were selected as the Rookie and Goaltender of the Weeks, respectively, while Dylan Anhorn of St. Cloud State was chosen as Defenseman of the Week.
Kent Anderson (Defenseman),
Boston Buckberger (Rookie),
Matt Davis (Goaltender) and
Massimo Rizzo (Forward) were finalists for the NCHC's weekly awards.
