DENVER – University of Denver hockey team ranks No. 5 in the nation in both the USCHO.com and USA Hockey/The Rink Live polls after the latest national rankings were released on Monday.
 
Denver stayed at No. 5 in the USA Hockey/The Rink Live list and dropped down one spot from No. 4 in the USCHO.com poll after splitting a weekend series at then-No. 13 Western Michigan. The Pioneers lost 7-3 on Friday before earning a 6-5 overtime win on Saturday over the Broncos, who now rank No. 12.
 
The top nine teams are the same in each poll, with North Dakota dropping from No. 1 to No. 4 after losing Colorado College twice at home in overtime. The CC Tigers entered the rankings for the first time since joining the NCHC.
 
Boston College moved up to No. 1 while Boston University is No. 2 and Quinnipiac is No. 3. NCHC-foe St. Cloud State is also in the rankings at No. 14 and 16 in the two polls.
 
The NCHC's five teams ranked are tied with the Big Ten for the second-most among all conferences. Hockey East has six teams in the polls.
 
UP NEXT: Denver is on its holiday break, as the team's next game is an exhibition against Minot State on Dec. 30. The Pioneers returns to regular-season play versus Niagara on Jan. 5-6 and resume NCHC games on Jan. 13-14 against No. 14/16 St. Cloud State.

About the USA Hockey/The Rink Live Poll: The rankings are conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the six NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey.
