Denver Posts Fast Swims at Midway Point of BIG Al Invite

The Pioneers will have 15 swimmers taking part in individual finals on Saturday night

PRINCETON, New Jersey – The University of Denver men's and women's swimming and diving programs reached the halfway point of the 2023 BIG Al Invitational at Denunzio Natatorium on Saturday morning. In total, 15 Denver swimmers earned spots in point-scoring finals tonight.
 
Event-by-Event Recap
In the women's 400IM, Mina Ada Solaker punched her ticket into an A-Final on Saturday night with a time of 4:17.54, taking fourth in the prelims. Sabrina Rachjaibun finished ninth (4:21.39) and Lilly Zippel will join her teammate in the B-Final with a 4:23.34 to take 16th.
 
On the men's side, Noah Laird earned an A-Final starting spot with his 3:51.30 to take seventh in the preliminary round.
 
Saturday's 200 freestyle saw Ines Marin earn an eighth place finish with her time of 1:48.89. Kali Metuzals will swim in the B-Final after her 1:49.97 to claim 14th.
 
Dylan Mes will represent the Denver men in Saturday's 200 free, qualifying 14th with a 1:38.63.
 
Jessica Maeda showed off her speed in the women's 100 breast, taking third in qualification with a 1:02.10. Zoe Lynch and Sophia Remington booked B-Final spots, taking 13th (1:04.53) and 14th (1:04.63), respectively.
 
Denver's men earned two spots in Saturday night's 100 breast A-Final. Alex Lynch clocked in at 54.56 to take seventh and Kelby Modene finished eighth with a 54.73. Donat Fabian will also be scoring points for the Denver men tonight, finishing 12th in 55.04 on Saturday morning.
 
In the men's 100 back, Dylan Wright will swim in Saturday's A-Final after his 47.58 (sixth), while Liam Simmons earned the final spot in the B-Final with a 49.04.
 
UP NEXT:
Saturday evening's session will feature event finals for the individual events swam Friday morning in addition to both the 800 free and 200 medley relays. Denver's divers will continue their championship Saturday with the women's 1-meter and men's 3-meter.
