DENVER – University of Denver gymnast Rylie Mundell was named the Big 12 Conference Gymnast of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
 
The DU junior won four titles in the team's February 17 meet at Air Force, which included her third-straight win in the all-around with a 39.600 that was the top score in the Big 12 for Week 7.
 
She set or matched season highs on three events including a career high-tying 9.900 on floor. Her 9.925 on bars helped lead Denver to a new program-record road score of 49.550 – which also ranks as the third-highest bars score in DU history overall. She added a second 9.925 during Denver's beam rotation and contributed to a 49.525 team score that tied the seventh-highest overall score and the fourth-highest road score in program history.
 
All four of Mundell's scores counted toward DU's 197.650, now the second-highest overall road score in school history and tied for the fifth-best overall score.
 
This is the third Big 12 Gymnast of the Week award of Mundell's career and her fifth weekly Big 12 award. In total, Denver has captured five Big 12 weekly awards this season with Mundell joining fellow junior Rosie Casali (Week 2) with Gymnast of the Week nods. Sophomore Momoko Iwai was the Week 6 Event Specialist of the Week and freshmen Mila Brusch (Week 2) and Kiley Rorich (Week 4) have each earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honors.
 
No. 10 Denver finishes February with its third Big 12 Conference meet of the year, traveling to Iowa State on Friday, February 24. The meet is slated for a 6:30 p.m. CT/5:30 p.m. MT start.
