[19/RV] Denver Hosts [15/14] Ohio State Sunday

The Pioneers and Buckeyes will meet at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium for the first time since 2018 on Sunday

DENVER – The [19/RV] University of Denver men's lacrosse program, presented by Your Hometown Toyota Stores, will return to Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium for its final game ahead of a rare bye week, when the Pioneers host [15/14] Ohio State on Sunday at 12 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast live on Altitude 2 and 104.3 The Fan HD3.

DI Series History vs. Ohio State
In a series affected that has seen canceled games in the last four seasons due to a winter storm Bomb Cyclone, a global pandemic, and the global pandemic causing the Big Ten to only play conference games in 2021, two long time conference foes finally met for the first time in 48 months last March, with Denver defeating then-No. 7 Ohio State 14-12 at The Shoe. When the two programs meet on Sunday for the first time since March 17, 2018, Denver holds a 13-12 advantage in the all-time series, has won four of five and six of the last 10. The series has featured eight one-goal games, all from the ECAC and GWLL days.

Last Time Out – Yale 11, Denver 9
Stephen Avery netted his first career hat trick to lead the Denver offense with a three-goal, one-assist afternoon, but the Pioneers fourth-quarter comeback fell short by a count of 11-9 last Saturday. JJ Sillstrop and Michael Lampert scored two goals apiece in the loss. Alec Stathakis finished 15-of-22 from the faceoff stripe with nine ground balls. Malcolm Kleban made a career-high 11 stops in cage for the Pioneers, Denver's first 10-save performance of the season and the first 50% performance for Kleban in his career.

Bill Tierney's Final Season
Head coach Bill Tierney will roam the Denver sidelines for his 14th and final season in 2023. Tierney enters the game at 160-57 at DU and 432-150 in his 39th season as a college head lacrosse coach.

All Across the Country
The 2023 Denver Pioneers have players from 19 different states, bringing the program's total in the Division I era to 35 different states. The 2023 Pioneers added three new states to the program's list: Iowa (Michael Provenza), Kansas (Cade Eldred) and Utah (Chris Caldwell).
