DENVER – The No. 4 Denver Pioneers women's lacrosse team posted its largest margin of victory of the season on Saturday afternoon as it defeated the Villanova Wildcats 17-4 at Peter Barton Stadium.
DU remained unbeaten on the season at 11-0 and began Big East Conference play in dominating fashion. Three Pioneers had hat trick as senior
Julia Gilbert and sophomore
Raegan Wilson both tallied four goals apiece and senior
Ellie Curry recorded three markers while also adding an assist.
"Villanova is a good team," said Denver head coach
Liza Kelly. "They're off to their best start ever, so we knew we had to show up and play our best today."
Gilbert also had three assists to finish with a season-high seven points. She has posted multiple-goal outings in each of the last nine games, recording six hat tricks in that stretch.
Graduate student

After going 1-for-5 on free-position shots in the opening quarter, the Pioneers were nearly perfect the rest of the way from the eight meter as they tallied seven goals on 10 shots in the remaining 45 minutes. Wilson went 4-for-4 on free positions, Gilbert was perfect as well at 2-for-2 and Dineen scored on two of her five attempts.
