[10/10] Denver Hosts Providence on a Friday Senior Night

The game will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network

DENVER – The [10/10] University of Denver men's lacrosse head coach Bill Tierney will coach in his final Senior Day of his 39-year career on Friday when the Pioneers welcome Providence to Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium for its annual regular season finale under the lights. Faceoff on CBS Sports Network and 104.3 The Fan HD3 is set for 7 p.m. MT.
 
Prior to the game, Denver will honor 15 student-athletes: Aidan Abram, Richie Connell, Anders Croone, Jack DiBenedetto, Andrew DiFrancesco, Jake Edinger, Zach Groff, Adam Hangland, Quinn Marquez, Bobby McCuskey, AJ Mercurio, JJ Sillstrop, Malik Sparrow, Alec Stathakis and Jack Thompson. The Denver senior class has played a key role in Denver ranking ninth in the country in senior class wins.
 
DI Series History vs. Providence
Denver is 14-0 all-time against Providence, including 6-0 at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. A year ago, Denver claimed a 16-3 victory in Rhode Island.
 
Last Time Out – No. 11 Denver 12, St. John's 10
Michael Lampert had a four-goal and six-point afternoon to pace the Pioneers offense, and Alec Stathakis went 21-for-26 from the stripe, picking up 18 ground balls in Denver's 12-10 win over St. John's on Saturday in Queens.
 
Bill Tierney's Final Season
Head coach Bill Tierney will roam the Denver sidelines for his 14th and final season in 2023. Tierney enters the game at 164-58 at DU and 436-151 in his 39th season as a college head lacrosse coach.
 
All Across the Country
The 2023 Denver Pioneers have players from 19 different states, bringing the program's total in the Division I era to 35 different states. The 2023 Pioneers added three new states to the program's list: Iowa (Michael Provenza), Kansas (Cade Eldred) and Utah (Chris Caldwell).
 
Notes:
  • JJ Sillstrop became the 10th-fastest Pioneer to 100 career points last Saturday, reaching the milestone in his 40th career game.
