Denver Claims Fourth Straight Summit League Championship

Pioneers pick up eighth league championship since joining in fall of 2013

LINCOLN, Neb. – The University of Denver women's golf team delivered in the final round on Tuesday, separating from the field to claim its fourth straight Summit League Championship. The Pioneers finished up the tournament with a team score of 852 (even par).

Significant Stats:
- The Pioneers' 54-hole team score of 852 broke their own previous Summit League Championship record set last year at 871.
- Anna Krekling took home individual medalist honors at 9-under, setting a new 54-hole record for the Summit League Championship. The Norwegian became the seventh Pioneers to capture the Summit League Championship MVP honors.
- DU won its eighth Summit League Championship since joining the league back in the fall of 2013.
- Denver's 48 birdies led the whole field.  

Inside the Round for the Pioneers:
- Krekling picked up her second career win with a 7-under performance on the day, breaking former DU great Mary Weinstein for lowest individual round in Summit League Championship history at 64.
- Anna Zanusso rose up 10 spots on the final day to finish tied for second at even par. The senior went low on the day, firing a 4-under 67 for the round. 
- Clara Gestsdottir wrapped up her tournament in a tie for fifth place at 4-over.
- Alyson Bean finished in ninth place after posting a final score of 6-over in the three-day event.
- Emma Bryant tied for 26th at 13-over.
