Earlier this season, Denver defeated the Wildcats 12-6 on Bill Tierney Day, in-front of a sold out crowd at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. Villanova won the last match-up in the BIG EAST Tournament, ending the Pioneers 2022 season in Washington D.C. Richie Connell led the Denver offense with six points on four goals and two helpers. The four goals tied for Connell's most in a Denver uniform. Stephen Avery broke a 14-14 deadlock on the Pioneers second possession of overtime to send the Pioneers to their ninth victory of 2023.

Bill Tierney's Final Season
