DENVER – University of Denver Athletics has named Kate Walker its Assistant Athletic Director for Administration, Vice Chancellor for Athletics and Ritchie Center Operations Josh Berlo announced on Thursday.
"We're very excited to welcome Kate to our staff," Berlo said. "Her drive to make those around her better has already had an impact on our operations and student athletes. I am confident as she settles in, her proactiveness will have an even greater imprint on the entire athletic department. Kate's focus will be around continuous improvement, strategic planning and enhancing the DU Athletics as a whole."
Walker comes to Denver from Cherry Creek Family Offices where she spent the last year and a half as the Executive Assistant to the Founding Partner/CEO. A two-time team captain, Walker led the Bucknell women's basketball team to three Patriot League championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances in her collegiate career. Walker was a two-time All-Patriot League pick and a Patriot League All-Tournament Team selection. Following her playing career, Walker earned her Master's in Sports Leadership from VCU. Walker also has a year of coaching experience while serving as the graduate assistant for the University of Richmond women's basketball program.
"I'm excited to be back in college athletics and am very thankful for the opportunity to work with the incredible DU athletic department staff," Walker said. "I'd like to thank Vice Chancellor Josh Berlo for his faith in me to take on this role, and I'm looking forward to contributing to the accomplishment of the vision he has for DU Athletics."
