ISLA VISTA, Calif. --The Denver Pioneers volleyball team lost to the New Mexico State Aggies 3-0 (20-25, 23-25, 19-25) on Sunday to wrap up the UC Santa Barbara Thunderdome Classic.
Cassie Davis finished with 10 kills on the day to lead the Pioneers offense while Molly Mirabelli pitched in with eight kills. Defensively, DU (0-3) got 10 digs from Alayna Finucan along with six blocks from Cadi Boyer.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Pioneers fell behind after dropping the first set 25-20 despite a tightly-played frame. Denver trailed by as many as six points as New Mexico State grabbed the advantage for good at 16-15 in a set that was tied up eight times before the Aggies took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 2 | Denver then lost set two 25-23 to fall behind 2-0 in the match. An overpowering defensive display was not enough as the Pioneers dropped the second set while recording eight blocks in the set loss.
SET 3 | Denver could not win the third set and was swept by New Mexico State. The Pioneers fell in a tough set 25-19. Denver trailed by as many as seven points as New Mexico State grabbed the advantage for good at 11-10 in a set that was tied up seven times before the Aggies took over the lead. DU had lat push but wasn't able to even the score.
