DU Women’s Soccer Visits Omaha on Sunday

Denver continues first Summit League road trip of the season

WHO: Denver (6-1-4, 2-0-0 Summit) at Omaha (4-4-3, 1-1-1 Summit)
WHAT: Third Summit League match of 2023
WHERE: Caniglia Field (Omaha, Nebraska)
WHEN: Sunday, October 1, at 1 p.m. CT/12 p.m. MT

LAST TIME OUT:
Denver earned a 2-1 win at St. Thomas on Thursday off a three-point outing from senior Jordan Crockett in the team's first Summit League road match of the year. Graduate student Kaitlyn Glover put Denver up 1-0 early in the first half off an excellent Crockett service from near midfield. UST found an equalizer in the 59th minute, but Crockett retook the lead for Denver after placing a free kick right underneath the crossbar that the St. Thomas keeper midhandled.

QUICK HITS:
  • Denver extended its streak of outshooting its opponents to seven consecutive matches and in nine of its last 10.
  • With 14 more shots at UST on Thursday, DU has logged double-digit shot attempts in every match this season except for the season opener.
  • For the second time this season – both times coming on the road – Denver held its opponent without a corner kick, doing so at Oregon and at St. Thomas
  • Glover's first-half goal at UST moved her into a tie with freshman Liv Moritz for the most goals scored this year with five.
  • Junior Samantha Dreiling holds a Denver-leading 10-match streak with at one shot attempt after putting two toward the net at St. Thomas.
SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS:
This will be the 14th all-time meeting between Denver and Omaha with DU holding a 12-1-0 record. DU has won the last 11 matches including a 2-0 victory in their most recent meeting in Denver on October 8, 2022. The teams last met in Omaha on October 1, 2021, in a 3-0 win for DU.

The Mavericks are coming off a 2-1 loss at home against Oral Roberts on Thursday. ORU held a 2-0 lead midway through the second half, but Omaha closed the gap with an 81st-minute goal from Marissa Gohr. UNO had two corner kicks and one shot in the final eight minutes of play but couldn't find the equalizer.

DU returns home for its final three regular-season matches in Denver, beginning with hosting South Dakota State on Thursday, October 5, at 7 p.m. MT.
