DU Women's Soccer Heads West to Take On Oregon
Denver set for final non-conference away match of 2023

WHO: Denver (3-0-4, 0-0-0 Summit) at Oregon (0-5-1, 0-0-0 Pac-12)
WHAT: Last away match of non-conference schedule
WHERE: Papé Field (Eugene, Oregon)
WHEN: Sunday, September 10, at 1 p.m. PT/2 p.m. MT

LAST TIME OUT:
For the 19th time in DU's Division I history, the Pioneers put up at least six goals in a 6-0 victory over Colgate at home on Thursday, September 7. Freshman Liv Moritz scored her third of the year – and her first game winner – to begin the scoring and put DU up, 1-0, at halftime. Denver came out five second-half goals – tying the for the second-most in program history in any half – beginning with junior Samantha Dreiling's first career goal and then graduate student Camryn MacMillan's second of the season just 3:12 later.

Junior Ella Frost scored consecutive goals for the first brace of her career, converting a penalty kick in the 72nd minute before scoring from open play 11 minutes later. For the first time since November 6, 2021, graduate student Sydney Sharp entered the field for DU, after missing the 2022 season with an injury, and scored on Denver's second penalty shot of the match.

QUICK HITS:
  • DU is undefeated through the first seven matches for just the second time in its Division I history and for the first time since 2013 when Denver went 7-1-0 to begin its season.
  • So far, 12 different Pioneers have scored at least once, which is the second most through the first six matches of a season and behind only 2021's 13 goal scorers.
    • Overall, DU is up to 19 goals scored so far in 2023, the second most through the team's first seven matches and behind only 2021's 22 goals.
  • Following its six goals against Colgate, Denver has now scored at least three goals in four consecutive non-conference matches for the first time in the program's DI history.
  • Dreiling and Sharp have made triumphant returns from injury with their goals against Colgate.
    • Dreiling missed her first two seasons with Denver following three season-ending injuries before starting in all seven matches so far in 2023. Her goal on September 7 was the first of her career.
    • Sharp missed the 2022 season after sustaining a season-ending injury in the offseason. She returned to play for the first time against Colgate and scored Denver's sixth goal of the match.
  • Twice in its match against Colgate, Denver scored consecutive goals less than four minutes apart – the 19th time in its DI history to do so in a single match.
    • Sharp scored just 2:24 after Frost's second goal of the night.
    • Dreiling and MacMillan's goals were separated by just 3:12.
SCOUTING THE DUCKS:
This will be just the second meeting between Denver and Oregon with the Ducks claiming a 4-1 win in their only previous meeting in a neutral-site match in Corvallis, Oregon, on September 18, 2009.

Oregon is coming off two 1-0 losses, first at Grand Canyon on September 3 and then against California Baptist at home on September 7. Callan Harrington and Ryann Reynolds lead the Ducks in scoring with a goal apiece on the season while Cameron Bourne had a team-best seven shots so far in 2023.

WHAT'S NEXT:
DU concludes its non-conference slate when it hosts another Power-5 team in Colorado on Friday, September 15, at University of Denver Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. MT.
