LA JOLLA, CA --The Denver volleyball team fell to the San Diego State Aztecs in three sets (19-25, 17-25, 22-25) Friday at LionTree Arena.
The loss dropped the Pios to 0-5 on the season.
Cassie Davis finished with eight kills to lead the Pioneers offense. Denver got 7 digs from Gianna Bartalo along with five blocks from Molly Mirabelli to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Pioneers fell behind early, dropping a tough first set 25-19. Denver trailed by as many as six points as San Diego State grabbed the advantage for good at 20-19 in a set that was tied up five times before the Aztecs took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 2 | A 25-17 second-set loss put Denver in a 2-0 hole in the match. The Pioneers fell behind on the first point and never clawed back into the lead before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Denver couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Pioneers dropped the set 25-22 despite a strong performance on the attacking side. Denver registered a .333 attack percentage with 13 kills in the set loss.
