DENVER – University of Denver skiing sophomore Mia Hunt and freshman Liv Moritz will represent the United States at the 2024 FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championships later this month in France.

Hunt and Moritz are two of 16 Americans named the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Alpine Junior World Championship Team and represent half of the collegiate skiers on the squad. The Pioneers' have the most student-athletes on Team USA.

This year's Alpine Junior World Championships are set for Jan. 28-Feb. 3 at Portes du Soleil in Haute-Savoie, France. The 2024 team is primarily comprised of Stifel U.S. Ski Team athletes from the C and D teams, as well as top U.S. Ski & Snowboard club program athletes from across the nation. Full race schedule is below.

Hunt is a sophomore on the DU Ski Team and recorded two top-10 finishes during the 2023 college season, placing eighth in slalom at both the Denver Invitational and RMISA Championships. She also represented the Pioneers at the NCAA Championships, coming in 12th in slalom and 25th in giant slalom.

The Park City, Utah, native was previously on the U.S. Ski Team National Development Group and represented Team USA at the 2023 Winter University Games in Lake Placid, New York. Hunt enters the 2024 RMISA season with momentum after placing second among juniors at the Nor-Am Cup slalom race on Jan. 4 in Stratton Mountain, Vermont.

Moritz is heading into her freshman campaign with the Pioneers and is a member of the Stifel U.S. Alpine D Ski Team this season. She will be going to her second world junior championship after racing last year in Austria where she finished fifth in team parallel and also competed in slalom.

Moritz earned three top-10 finishes in four races at the Nor-Am Cup in Stratton Mountain earlier this month and had three top-10 results and a GS win at the Holiday Classic in Steamboat Springs in late December. She also came in eighth and 16th in a pair of Nor-Am super-G events in Copper Mountain on Dec. 9.
