Denver Women’s Soccer Hosts Omaha in Regular-Season Home Finale

DU set for 2023 Summit League semifinal rematch on Thursday night

WHO: Denver (9-5-1, 3-1-1 Summit) vs. Omaha (9-2-3, 3-1-1 Summit)
WHAT: DU's final regular-season home match in 2024
WHERE: University of Denver Soccer Stadium (Denver, Colo.)
WHEN: Thursday, October 17, at 7 p.m. MT

LAST TIME OUT:
Denver earned its third Summit League win of the year and its second in a row with a 2-1 win over North Dakota State on Sunday, October 13. After NDSU took a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute, senior Ella Frost equalized just 1:13 later with her first of two goals on the day. She then converted a penalty kick in the 81st minute to give Denver the 2-1 lead.

QUICK HITS:
  • After her three-goal weekend – two of which were game winners – Frost was named the Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week for the first time in her career.
    • She enters Thursday with the League lead in goals (7), game winners (4) and points (16).
  • Sunday's win over NDSU was Denver's 99th at University of Denver Soccer Stadium since its opening in 2009
    • A win on Thursday will give DU its 100th win at the venue.
  • Should she play on Thursday, graduate student Vanessa Murray will become the fifth Pioneer to play in 90 matches for Denver in her career.
    • She is currently tied for No. 5 in the program's Division I history with 89 appearances.
    • Fifth-year student Jordan Crockett is also within striking distance of 90 matches played and can do so if she plays in all three of DU's remaining regular-season matches.
SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS:
Omaha moved to 3-1-1 in Summit League play this season – the same record as Denver – with a 1-0 win at home over St. Thomas on October 13 in the Mavericks' final home match of the regular season. Marissa Gohr had the match's only goal in the 18th minute.

Joining DU's Frost in earning Summit League honors this week is Omaha's Grace Crockett, who was named the Defensive Peak Performer of the Week after posting her 15th career assist, which became a new UNO program record.

Denver leads the head-to-head against Omaha, 12-1-2, including 5-1-1 at home. The teams met in the 2023 Summit League semifinals and played to a 2-2 draw after overtime. The Mavericks advanced in the tournament after winning the penalty shootout, 3-2.

WHAT'S NEXT:
DU returns to the road for the final week of the regular season, traveling to South Dakota State on Thursday, October 24, before visiting South Dakota on Sunday, October 27.
