Marin, Morsy and Wright Earn Summit League Weekly Honors

The Pioneers earned three Summit League Peak Performer of the Week honors after a productive week in Bakersfield

DENVER – University of Denver senior men's swimmer Dylan Wright, senior men's diver Zyad Morsy, and graduate student women's swimmer Ines Marin were named Summit League Peak Performers of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

Morsy's award was his second of the season and the ninth of his three-year Pioneer career. Marin earned her second Summit League weekly award and Wright received his third weekly honor.

Morsy swept both boards across the CSUB Sprint Classic and the Roadrunner Invitational in Bakersfield last weekend. On the 1-meter board, Morsy earned his first NCAA Zone Cut of the season, receiving a score of 300.75. Morsy made it two cuts in two weeks on the 3-meter board, recording a score of 342.80 to take that event title as well.

Wright was a part of seven scoring races for a Pioneer men's team that won the Roadrunner Invite and would have won the CSUB Sprint Classic had diving been included, but was scored in second. The Denver senior recorded an event win in the four-team field in the 50 back with a time of 23.63. Wright also finished second in the 200 fly (1:51.80) and 200 back (1:48.12), while taking third in the 100 back (50.45). He also swam in three relays that scored points, finishing second in the 400 medley and 800 free and third in the 200 medley.

Marin swam in nine scoring races in a six-team field across the two events last weekend. Marin won individual event titles in the 100 free (51.83) and the 200 free (1:51.54), while also swimming a leg in Denver's victorious 800 free relay. Marin finished second in the 100 fly (56.64) and also swam in the 50 fly (7th) and 50 free (9th) on the sprint day Friday. The graduate student swam in three additional relays for the women's program that swept both team event titles last weekend, finishing second in the 200 medley and 400 medley relays and fourth in the 200 free relay.
