DENVER – The University of Denver gymnastics team is set to host its annual Homecoming Open Practice on Friday, October 18, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. in the team's training facility, located inside the Daniel L. Ritchie Center for Sports & Wellness.
Attendance is free and gives fans their first look at the 2025 Denver team while also providing the chance to meet the student-athletes at the end of training. Light refreshments will also be served.
Denver is preparing for the upcoming 2025 gymnastics season, during which DU will host six meets in Magness Arena, starting with a showdown against Michigan on January 5 for the season opener. Among other teams making the trip to Denver in 2025 are Missouri and Georgia, as well as Big 12 Conference opponents Arizona State, BYU and West Virginia.
DU returns 14 of 15 student-athletes from its 2024 roster including
Rosie Casali,
Bella Mabanta,
Rylie Mundell and
Abbie Thompson, who are back for fifth years of eligibility. Freshman
Sophia Hampp also joins the roster after training at GAGE during her club career.
Denver is coming off a highly-successful 2024 campaign that saw the team advance to the NCAA Regional Final and log wins over top-ranked programs including UCLA – once in the regular season and then again at NCAA Regionals – Stanford, Michigan and Missouri. DU finished the year ranked inside the top 10 in the country for the fifth time in the last six seasons.
