DENVER – University of Denver hockey senior forward
Jack Devine has been named the NCHC Player of the Month for October, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference announced on Wednesday.
Devine led both the league and the entire nation in scoring in the first month of the season, as he registered 14 points on 13 assists and one goal. He is averaging 2.33 points per game in the first six contests of the season and owns a plus-three rating.
The Glencoe, Illinois, native began the campaign by recording a career-high four assists on opening night at Alaska Anchorage on Oct. 5 and has recorded multiple assists/points in five of the six contests this year. He is currently on a season-opening six-game assist and point streak, the longest stretches of his career.
He recorded three points with a goal and two assists last Saturday in No. 1 DU's 6-2 victory against No. 20 Wisconsin and now owns 120 career points (45 goals and 75 assists), ranking tied for 55th all-time in scoring in program history. Devine, who is averaging 0.97 points per game in his college tenure, is one point behind former teammate
Cole Guttman for 54th on the school's all-time scoring and three points from moving into the top 50 among all players in Pioneer history.
The upperclassman is expected to play in his 125th career game on Friday at Yale.
This is Devine's first career monthly award from the NCHC, and he is the first Pioneer to be named Player of the Month since
Zeev Buium in December 2023.
Devine is now eligible to be selected for National Player of the Month, which will be announced later this week by Hockey Commissioners' Association.
St. Cloud State's Isak Posch was named the NCHC Goaltender of the Month while Zach Nehring of Western Michigan is October's Rookie of the Month. Denver's
Matt Davis was a finalist for the NCHC's monthly goaltending honor.
UP NEXT: No. 1 Denver head to the northeast for a two-game series against the ECAC Yale Bulldogs on Friday and Saturday night. Both games begin at 5 p.m. MT and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
