Denver scored the first and last goals at Oral Roberts on Saturday, October 5, but ultimately dropped the match, 2-4. Both DU goal scorers – seniors
Jadyn Goodrich and
Delaney McGowan – netted their first goals of the season. Goodrich's was the fastest goal scored by a Denver player this year (3:09), and McGowan's was her first in more than two years.
QUICK HITS:
- Thursday is DU Kicks Cancer night. The Pioneers will wear pink shirts during warm-ups and ribbons in their hair during the match to help raise breast cancer awareness.
- Fans are also invited to join the Pioneers in wearing pink – or helping bring awareness to the cancer cause of their choosing.
- Denver is also preparing for Senior Day on Sunday by celebrating its 10 fourth-year seniors all week long on social media.
- DU enters Thursday night just three matches shy of its 100th win at University of Denver Soccer Stadum.
- The Pioneers have the opportunity to hit the century mark in the team's regular-season home finale against Omaha on Thursday, October 17, with wins against UST on Thursday and North Dakota State on Sunday.
- With the primary assist on Denver's opening goal at ORU on Saturday, freshman Megan Murray claimed the team lead for most points this year (11)
- Murray moved ahead of sophomore Michaela McGowan, who now sits in a tie for second with senior Ella Frost, each with 10 points. Frost added her 10th point of the year with the assist on D. McGowan's goal at ORU.
SCOUTING THE TOMMIES:
St. Thomas is coming off a 0-1 loss against South Dakota State in its only match last week on Sunday, October 6. The game remained scoreless into the 82
nd minute until SDSU's Adrianne Agbayani netted the game winner.
UST's Lexi Huber leads the Tommies in goals (5) – including three game winners – and points (11) this year. In goal, Olivia Rowe has earned the start 10 times, though Kendell Ellis has played the full 90 minutes in each of St. Thomas' last two matches.
Denver and St. Thomas have only met three times previously with DU capturing wins in each. They last met in a 2-1 DU win at UST on September 28, 2023. Thursday's match will be just the second time the Tommies have played in Denver, last doing so on October 16, 2022, when DU earned a 4-1 win.
WHAT'S NEXT:
DU hosts its middle match of a three-game homestand when it welcomes North Dakota State for Senior Day on Sunday, October 13. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m. MT – an hour earlier than most Sunday home matches for DU.
