DENVER – The University of Denver men's basketball program used a 48-point second half to pull away from Colorado Christian 86-63 on Thursday night inside Hamilton Gymnasium.
The Pioneers (2-2) had four players score in double figures, led by Nicholas Shogbonyo, who had 16 points and six rebounds. Josh Pickett added 15 points and six rebounds off the bench and Isaiah Addo-Ankrah chipped in as well with 14 points.
Denver shared the ball well in Thursday's game, racking up 17 assists on 27 made field goals. Sebastian Akins' five assists led the Pioneers and DeAndre Craig also helped out with three assists of his own.
Denver forced 22 Colorado Christian turnovers while committing 11 themselves in Thursday's game. The Pioneers turned those takeaways into 27 points on the other end of the floor. Craig led the way individually with two steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After falling behind 29-23, Denver went on a 6-0 run with 3:50 left in the first half to tie the game at 29. The Pioneers then proceeded to grab a 38-33 lead heading into halftime. Denver capitalized on 10 Colorado Christian turnovers in the period, turning them into 11 points on the other end of the floor.
Denver started tacking on points in the second half almost immediately, going on a 6-0 run, finished off by Shogbonyo's layup, to grow the lead to 44-33 with 16:00 to go in the contest. The Pioneers kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 86-63 win. Denver capitalized on 12 Colorado Christian turnovers in the period, collecting 16 points off those turnovers.
