DENVER – The University of Denver women's tennis team won all seven of its matches on the second day of the Colorado Cup at Denver Tennis Park on Saturday.
DU swept its three doubles matches against Tulsa before adding a triad of singles wins against the Hurricane. Denver finished the day's slate with a singles win against Weber State.
For the second day in a row, Denver won all of its doubles tilts, led by two wins for team of juniors
Claudia Martinez de Velasco and
Louise Wikander. Junior
Hana Bečirovič Novak and freshman
Natálie Cinková won their third doubles match of the tournament so far as well.
In singles, Bečirovič Novak, Cinková and Martinez de Velasco each dropped five games or fewer in their matches with the freshman Cinková winning her first singles match of the weekend. Wikander found herself in a three-set battle after winning the opening frame in a tiebreak and then rebounding from losing the second set by closing out the match with a 6-2 win.
The Colorado Cup concludes on Sunday at Denver Tennis Park, beginning at 9 a.m. MT, with a round of doubles followed by a round of singles.
