PORTLAND – The University of Denver men's basketball program made the defensive plays it needed to down the stretch to secure its first road win of the season by a count of 68-67 at Portland State in the final game of the Big Sky/Summit League Challenge on Saturday afternoon in the Viking Pavilion.
Isaiah Addo-Ankrah, Nicholas Shogbonyo and DeAndre Craig combined to score 52 of Denver's 68 total points as the Pioneers earned the one-point road win.
Addo-Ankrah led the Pioneers (5-6) with 21 points. Shogbonyo added 19 points and six rebounds and Craig chipped in as well with 12 points.
Denver did a stellar job taking care of the basketball, dishing out 15 assists while turning the ball over five times. Addo-Ankrah's three assists paced the Pioneers. Josh Lee also contributed with three assists of his own.

- Addo-Ankrah finished in double figures for the fifth time this season and the 21st time in his career.
- Addo-Ankrah tied a career-high in points and made a career-high 7 triples on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After falling behind 2-0, Denver went on a 7-0 run with 19:16 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Shogbonyo, to take a 7-2 lead. The Pioneers then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 41-40.
Portland State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 50-42 advantage before Denver went on a 7-0 run, finished off by Addo-Ankrah's three, to shrink the deficit to 50-49 with 11:45 to go in the contest. The Pioneers kept the rally going and took the lead for good on a dunk from Pedro Lopez-Sanvicente with 1:58 to play.
