Denver Finishes Fifth at San Diego State Classic

Anna Krekling led the Pioneers with her first top-10 finish of the season.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of Denver women's golf team finished the San Diego State Classic at 30-over 894 and in fifth place.

South Carolina claimed the team title at 16-over 880, while Virginia earned the runner-up finish at 17-over 881. Denver carded the most birdies at 16 in the 12-team tournament.

For the second time in as many attempts, the entire Pioneer five-some finished in the top-40 individually, while Anna Neumayer, competing as an individual, finished in 59th at 37-over.

Anna Krekling led the Denver team at 6-over 222, earning her a ninth place finish, her first top-10 finish since the 2023 Summit League Championship where she claimed the individual title. Krekling also led the field in par-5 scoring and carded the most birdies in the third round.

Katy Drocarova recorded another solid performance for the Pioneers to tie for 18th at 9-over 225. Clara Gestsdottir finished one stroke behind Drocarova to tie for 21st at 10-over 226.

Anna Zanuso shot 12-over 228 to tie for 26th. Emma Bryant rounded out the Pioneer lineup at 16-over 232 and tied for 36th.

Next up, the Pioneers head to Phoenix, Arizona on February 25th for the Dual in the Desert, a match play event against Arizona State.
