BOULDER, Colo. – University of Denver skiing sophomore
Sara Rask has been named the Skier of the Meet by the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association for women's alpine at the 2024 Denver Invitational.
Rask recorded a pair of podiums in the two slalom events at the Denver Invite earlier this week. She placed third on Monday in the first slalom at Loveland Ski Area before finishing runner-up on Tuesday in the second race of the discipline.
The Stockholm, Sweden, native now has 14 podiums in her collegiate career and has finished on the stand in three of her last five races. Rask has recorded five top-five finishes this season and has placed in the top 10 in each of the last eight events.
RMISA student-athletes can only earn the Skier of the Meet award once per season, and the winner is determined by the placement in the two discipline races of the meet. Utah's Mikkel Solbakken was recognized with the men's alpine award for the DU Invitational.
This is Rask's second such Skier of the Meet award of his career, as she also picked up the honor at the 2023 Westminster Invitational.
The Denver Invitational continues this weekend with Nordic races at Maloit Park in Minturn, Colorado. Friday features the 10-kilometer classical mass start while Saturday is the interval 5K freestyle. Next up for the alpine squad is the RMISA Championships from Feb. 22-25 in Bozeman, Montana.
