SAINT PAUL, MN --The Denver men's basketball team got a 23-point performance from the bench, but fell 83-58 to the St. Thomas Tommies on the road Saturday.
The Pioneers (15-16, 6-10) had three players score in double figures, led by Tyson Garff, who had 11 points. DeAndre Craig tacked on 11 points and Pedro Lopez Sanvicente helped out with 10 points.
How It Happened
Denver struggled out of the gate, falling behind 34-21 heading into halftime.
St. Thomas kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 63-37 advantage before Denver went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Lopez Sanvicente's jumper, to shrink the deficit to 63-42 with 6:52 to go in the contest. St. Thomas responded and outscored the Pioneers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 83-58. Denver got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 13 of its 37 total points.
