DENVER - The No. 13 Denver Pioneers women's lacrosse team opens Big East conference play with a battle against the UConn Huskies on Sunday afternoon at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
In their last matchup, the Pioneers defeated the Huskies, 11-6, in route to their third straight Big East Tournament title.
THE LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers defeated the [23] Stanford Cardinal, 10-6, on Sunday afternoon at Peter Barton.

Lauren Black led the offensive effort for Denver with five points apiece and goalkeeper
Emelia Bohi made a season-high 10 saves in net.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES: UConn is on a three-game win streak, with resounding wins over Columbia and Marist this week. The Huskies are 4-4 on the season. UConn boasts four all-conference selections, including Kate Shaffer, Big East Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, who led UConn in scoring last season with 55 goals and 28 assists. The 2023 Big East Goalkeeper of the Year Landyn White is back in goal for the Huskies this season after recording 217 saves and a .512 save percentage a year ago.
