DU finished the regular season with a 24-9-3 overall record and a 15-7-2 mark and 45 point in NCHC play. The team's win on Saturday was in front of 7,033 in its own arena, a program record for the highest-attended game at Magness Arena.

The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period and 3-3 at the end of the second frame before the Pioneers broke through with 8:16 remaining in the last stanza.
