DENVER – The University of Denver hockey team's Kent Anderson has been named to the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-America Men's At-Large Second Team for his performance on and off the ice during the 2023-24 campaign.
 
Anderson was previously named to the CSC All-District At-Large Team and was one of 47 total Division-I student-athletes and 14 members of the first team to pick up All-America honors by the organization.
 
The sophomore defenseman posted career highs with three goals, five assists and eight points while playing in 41-of-44 games in the Pioneers' national championship season in 2023-24. Anderson is a two-time AHCA Natuional All-American Scholar, NCHC Academic All-Conference Team member and NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete and was celebrated as this year's winner of Denver hockey's recipient of the Dr. Art Mason Top Scholar-Athlete award.
 
The finance major was recognized as the 2024 NCAA Elite 90 Award winner at this year's Frozen Four for having the highest cumulative grade-point average among all players at the championships at 3.975.
 
To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-America award, student-athletes must have been named to the All-District Team where they needed to be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average. Nominated student-athletes must have also participated in at least 90 percent of their team's games this past season or started 66 percent of the games.
 
Each school was limited to six nominees for both the Men's and Women's At-Large Academic All-District Team, which includes athletes from the NCAA men's sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
 
Anderson was one of three Denver men to be named an Academic All-American on the CSC's At-Large Team along with skiing's Florian Knopf. (First Team) and Andreas Kirkeng (Third Team). Nora Brand (First Team) of the DU ski team was previously named to the Women's Academic All-American At-Large Team on Tuesday.
