DENVER – University of Denver skiing's
Nora Brand has been named to the first team of the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-America Women's At-Large Team for her performance on the slopes and in the classroom in 2023-24.
Brand, who was previously named to the CSC All-District At-large Team, was one of 50 total Division-I student-athletes and 21 members of the first team to be honored by the organization.
The DU alpine squad member earned a pair of national All-American honors in her senior campaign, picking up first-team nods by placing third in slalom and second-team accolades for coming in seventh in giant slalom at the 2024 NCAA Championships in March. Also a member of the All-RMISA First Team, she grabbed two wins while earning five podiums, eight top-five results and placing in the top 10 in 11-of-14 races in the collegiate campaign. A ski team captain, Brand was also named a DU Athletics Scholar-Athlete of the Year for having the highest grade-point average in the entire senior class.
The Munich, Germany, native was one of 12 CSC First-Team members with a cumulative 4.0 grade-point average. She graduated from DU in June with bachelor's degrees in international studies and economics.
To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-America award, student-athlete must have been named to the All-District Team where they needed to be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average. Nominated student-athletes must have also participated in at least 90 percent of their team's games this past season or started 66 percent of the games.
Each school was limited to six nominees for both the Men's and Women's At-Large Academic All-District Team, which includes athletes from the NCAA sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
Brand was the only Denver woman to be named an Academic All-American on the CSC's At-Large Team.
