Denver again named ITA All-Academic Team with cumulative 2023-24 GPA of 3.830
DENVER – The University of Denver women's tennis team was recognized as an ITA All-Academic Team, and six student-athletes earned ITA Scholar-Athlete awards for the 2023-24 season, the ITA announced on Monday.
DU earned ITA All-Academic Team honors for the second-straight season and 13th overall after earning a team cumulative GPA of 3.830.
Denver saw six student-athletes capture ITA Scholar-Athlete nods:
Junior Andrea Burguete Beltran (marketing major)
Sophomore Caroline Driscoll (public policy major)
Sophomore Claudia Martinez de Velasco (finance major)
Sophomore Alice Otis (undeclared major)
Graduate student Britt Pursell (management master's candidate)
Sophomore Louise Wikander (psychology major)
ITA All-Academic Team honors are given to teams with at least a 3.20 team GPA while ITA Scholar-Athlete honors require an individual GPA of at least 3.50 for the 2023-24 year.
Burguete Beltran and Pursell were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for the third year in a row while Driscoll and Wikander each earned the awards for a second time. Martinez de Velasco and Otis are first-time honorees.
In 2023-24, Denver advanced to the NCAA tournament for a 10th-straight year after continuing its streak of winning the Summit League regular-season and tournament crowns in every season since joining the League in 2013-14.
Four of DU's 2023-24 ITA Scholar-Athletes – Burguete Beltran, Driscoll, Martinez de Velasco and Wikander – will return to Denver for the upcoming 2024-25 season – and Denver will welcome three newcomers to the roster including transfers Marley Lambert (formerly Michigan State) and Hana Bečirovič Novak (formerly Long Beach State), who also claimed ITA Scholar-Athlete nods for 2023-24.
