OGDEN, UT --The Denver volleyball team displayed impressive resilience in a five set victory over the Weber State Wildcats on Friday evening in Ogden, Utah.
The victory improved Denver's overall record to 1-1 on the season.
The Pioneers offense was paced by Ava Reynolds, who finished with 14 kills. Cassie Davis added 13 and Genevieve Lewis chipped in with 12 as part of a Denver attack that had four players with double-digit kills. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Alayna Finucan had 27 and Briley Decker had 10. From the front row, Molly Mirabelli contributed seven blocks and Lewis added five rejections.

SET 3 | Denver grabbed a 2-1 match lead after taking down the Wildcats in set three. The Pioneers took control of the set early when the score was 6-5 and never looked back to win 25-18. Denver led by seven points at 23-16 before closing out the stanza.
SET 4 | Denver couldn't keep the win streak going, as the Wildcats forced a fifth set with a 25-15 fourth-set win. The Pioneers lost the first point and never clawed back into the lead before losing the set.
SET 5 | Denver opened a two sets to one lead and fought off Weber State's comeback attempt, which included a fourth set victory, to win the fifth set 15-11 and the match 3-2. The Pioneers grabbed control of the set-five lead at 4-3 and never looked back. Denver ended strong, opening its biggest lead of the stanza, four points, to finish off the set, totaling 12 kills in the set.
