DENVER – The University of Denver men's soccer program has opened the season on a seven-match unbeaten run and has moved up to the top spot of the Top Drawer Soccer rankings, the publication released on Monday.
Denver has been the top team in the rankings in the Top Drawer Soccer poll one other time, on October 8, 2018. The Pioneers have never been atop the primary United Soccer Coaches poll, which will be released on Tuesday afternoon.
The Pioneers are coming off a 4-1 win over Yale in their home opener on Saturday night. Sam Bassett netted his third-career brace, while Denver also got goals from Bryce Willoughby and Oje Ofunrein in the win. The match began a five-game homestand for the Pioneers which continues with two more matches this week.
