Denver Women’s Soccer Travels to St. Thomas on Thursday

DU begins final regular-season road trip against Tommies on Thursday afternoon

WHO: Denver (7-4-3, 4-1-0 Summit) at St. Thomas (3-8-2, 0-4-1 Summit)
WHAT: The start of DU's final regular-season road trip
WHERE: South Field (St. Paul, Minnesota)
WHEN: Thursday, October 16, at 4 p.m. CT/3 p.m. MT

LAST TIME OUT:
Denver scored the only goal for either team in a 1-0 win against South Dakota State on Thursday, October 9. Freshman Lilly Lund found the back of the net for the second time this year in what would become the first game winner of her career. Redshirt junior Alina Santos collected her fifth clean sheet of the season and her seventh win overall after making seven saves, just one off her career high.

QUICK HITS:
  • Denver enters the week with a 94-17-15 all-time record in Summit League play including 43-10-7 on the road.
  • With all teams having played five League matches, Denver sits second in the conference standings with 12 points, one behind leader Oral Roberts.
    • DU has won five of its last six matches.
  • DU made a 30-point jump in the NCAA RPI following last week, now up to No. 56, which is the highest in the Summit League and keeps Denver as the only League team in the top 100.
    • Among DU's signature results in 2025 is a 0-0 draw against currently NCAA RPI No. 4 Baylor – despite DU playing down to 10 women for nearly 70 minutes of the match in August.
  • Santos has been called up to the New Zealand Women's National Team for three friendlies against Mexico and the United States beginning next week.
    • She is expected to miss Denver's regular-season finale on October 26 but return to the squad in time for the Summit League tournament, should DU qualify.
SCOUTING THE TOMMIES:
This will be the fifth meeting between Denver and St. Thomas with DU earning wins in the previous four matches. UST has scored exactly one goal in each of those four previous meetings, though Denver has outscored the Tommies, 11-4. In last season's meeting, DU landed a 3-1 win at home in early October.

Last week, after earning a 2-2 draw against Summit League-leader Oral Roberts, St. Thomas came up short against Kansas City, 2-3. The Tommies found an equalizer just 15 seconds into the start of the second half and then again started a comeback in the 71st minute but were unable to find a second equalizer.

Mackenzie Jacobson leads UST in goals (3), assists (2) and points (8) this season. Goalkeeper Olivia Rowe has played in every minute for the Tommies this season, making 84 saves, the most by a Summit League keeper.

UP NEXT:
Denver finishes its last regular-season road trip with a visit to Omaha on Sunday, October 19, at 12 p.m. CT/11 a.m. MT. DU will then return home for its regular-season finale against South Dakota on Sunday, October 26, at 1 p.m. MT.
