DU Women’s Soccer Set for Regular-Season Road Finale at Omaha

Denver hits penultimate match of 2025 regular season on Sunday afternoon

WHO: Denver (7-4-4, 4-1-1 Summit) at Omaha (5-6-4, 2-2-1 Summit)
WHAT: Denver's final regular-season road match
WHERE: Caniglia Field (Omaha, Nebraska)
WHEN: Sunday, October 19, at 12 p.m. CT/11 a.m. MT

LAST TIME OUT:
Denver rebounded after conceding the match's first goal to St. Thomas on Thursday afternoon, drawing level with a goal from redshirt senior Samantha Dreiling in the 88th minute. Redshirt junior Emma Thielbahr was inches away from adding a game winner in the final minute of play but clipped the crossbar.

QUICK HITS:
  • With the draw at St. Thomas on Thursday, Denver has officially clinched a spot in the Summit League tournament field.
  • With an assist on S. Dreiling's equalizer at UST, redshirt junior Hannah Tate became the seventh Pioneer with at least one goal and at least one assist this season.
  • S. Dreiling's equalizer at 87:23 on Thursday was the seventh latest in DU's NCAA Division I history and its latest since an 89:00 leveling goal against Sunday's opponent, Omaha, in the 2023 Summit League semifinals.
  • Redshirt junior Alina Santos made six saves at St. Thomas, bringing her season total to 73 and just two away from registering in the top 10 in Denver's DI history for most single-season saves.
  • Denver's 19 shot attempts and eight shots on goal at UST were both just one off the team's season highs.
  • Santos has been called up to the New Zealand Women's National Team for three friendlies against Mexico and the United States beginning next week.
    • She is expected to miss Denver's regular-season finale on October 26 but return to the squad in time for the Summit League tournament.
SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS:
Denver and Omaha have met 16 times previously with DU owning a 12-1-3 record. The last three meetings have all ended in draws including a 1-1 finish in Denver during last year's regular season. DU's last trip to Omaha ended in a scoreless draw on October 1, 2023. Prior to the streak of three consecutive draws, Denver had won 11 straight against Omaha.

Omaha has not played since a 1-3 loss at South Dakota State on October 12 and last played at home on October 2, falling, 0-2, to Summit League leader Oral Roberts.

Former DU Pioneer Payten Ivins leads the Mavericks with four goals this year. Kendall Dobberstein has a team-high six assists and shares the UNO lead in total points (10) with Charley Kort. Three Maverick goalkeepers have seen minutes in 2025 with Charlotte Huggard leading the way with 10 starts in 11 matches played.

UP NEXT:
Denver closes its 2025 regular season when it hosts South Dakota on Sunday, October 26, at 1 p.m. MT. DU will celebrate Senior Day during the match.
