Denver's women opened the quad meet with a third-place finish in the women's 200 medley relay on Friday.
Ali Beay,
Peyton Mullowney,
Julia Saxman and
Angie Wyand combined for a time of 1:44.39 to earn a spot on the podium.
DU's men also finished third when
Quinn Collins,
Kito Campbell,
Hamish McLellan and
Luke Milburn turned in a time of 1:30.92.
The first of three diving events at this weekend's meet saw
Savanna Berry lead Denver's women in the 1-meter with a score of 232.95 to take fifth.
Tatum Brasfield finished seventh with a score of 227.00.
Colin Breuer earned a spot on the podium and an NCAA Zone Cut in the men's 3-meter with his score of 322.65.
Trip Gregory, who earned an NCAA Zone Cut in the event two weeks ago, finished sixth with a 302.20.
In the first individual event of the night,
Sabrina Rachjaibun led the Pioneer women in the 400IM, taking second in the quad meet with a time of 4:31.34.
Lilly Zippel and
Samantha Synsvoll added to the scoring depth for the Pioneers in the event, taking third and fourth respectively with times of 4:31.93 and 4:32.20.
Nico Morton earned Denver another podium spot in the men's 400 IM, taking third in the field with a time of 4:07.88.
The first sprint free of the weekend saw
Matija Pantic take fifth behind a trio of LSU sprinters and an Air Force Academy member, clocking in at 46.19.
Darian Koler got Denver's women back on the podium in the women's 200 back with her time of 2:04.58, good for third on Friday night.
Samantha Synsvoll finished sixth with a time of 2:07.24.
DU's Mullowney led the Pioner women in the 200 breast with a fifth-place finish in a time of 2:21.38. Zippel was behind her teammate in sixth with a 2:24.07.
The Pioneers first event win of the night came in the women's 100 fly when freshman
Julia Saxman turned in a time of 55.55 to out touch LSU's top swimmer in the event.
Hamish McLellan wasted no time making it a 100 fly sweep for Denver, turning in a 48.81 to take the men's event.
In the first distance race of the weekend,
Genevieve Franklin led Denver's women in the 500 free, reaching the final wall in 5:10.25 to take fifth. Rachjaibun grabbed sixth to score points for Denver with her time of 5:10.93.
On the men's side,
Finn Holdredge,
Dylan Mes and
Joseph Hancock swept positions 4-6 with times of 4:41.33, 4:41.41 and 4:42.61, respectively.
In the final diving events of the night, Berry led Denver's women in the 3-meter with a score of 254.75 to take fifth, while
Dakotah Parker earned a spot on the podium behind a pair of LSU divers with his score of 298.50 to take third.
Tomorrow's session of the meet will begin with diving on the platform at 10 a.m. MT and swimming events at 11 a.m. MT.
