WHO: Denver (6-4-3, 3-1-0 Summit) vs. South Dakota State (8-1-4, 2-0-1 Summit)
WHAT: DU's penultimate home Summit League match
WHERE: University of Denver Soccer Stadium (Denver, Colorado)
WHEN: Thursday, October 9, at 7 p.m. MT

MATCH PROMOTIONS:
Thursday is Denver's annual "DU Kicks Cancer" night. Fans are invited to wear pink or the color of any cancer awareness cause during the match. DU student-athletes will wear pink during warm-ups and colored ribbons in their hair to represent the cancer causes of their choosing.

LAST TIME OUT:
In a meeting of the top two teams in the Summit League standings, Denver out shot and out possessed Oral Roberts on Sunday, October 5, but ultimately lost the match, 0-1, following an ORU goal off a deflected cross midway through the first half. DU held an 11-5 edge in shot attempts and held Oral Roberts to just a single corner kick in the entire match.

QUICK HITS:
  • Thursday's match closes a three-match homestand for DU against Summit League opponents.
    • Denver started with a 3-0 victory against Kansas City before its 0-1 narrow loss to Oral Roberts.
  • DU allowed just five shots to Oral Roberts in its last match, the fewest allowed to an opponent in 2025 so far.
    • It was also the second time this season that Denver held an opponent just one corner kick in a match.
    • Both marks were also season lows for current Summit League-leader ORU.
  • Entering the week, Denver and South Dakota State sit No. 2 and No. 3, respectively in the Summit League table. DU has played four League matches thus far while SDSU has played three.
SCOUTING THE JACKRABBITS:
SDSU leads the head-to-head against DU, 8-5-5, with the teams splitting results over their two meetings last year. In the regular season, Denver captured its first-ever win at SDSU with a 2-1 victory. The teams played again in the Summit League semifinals, hosted in Fargo, N.D., where the Jackrabbits claimed their own 2-1 win in holding off a late comeback attempt from the Pioneers.

South Dakota State is coming off a pair of two-goal performances in Summit League play last week, first finishing in a 2-2 draw at North Dakota before ending the weekend with a 2-0 win at North Dakota State.

The Jackrabbits have three student-athletes with four goals each including overall points leader Hailee Christensen (12). Christensen is also one of four SDSU players with four assists on the season. In goal Mallorie Benhart has 11 of 13 starts for South Dakota State this year and together with Stephanie Leckwold, the SDSU keepers have allowed just nine goals.

UP NEXT:
Denver heads back on the road for the penultimate week of the regular season, making trips to St. Thomas and Omaha on October 16 and 19, respectively.
