Denver Women Earn Big Win in Idaho

Julia Saxman turns in the sixth-best time in program history in the 200 fly

MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Denver women's swimming and diving team turned in a complete performance in a win at Idaho on Saturday afternoon at the UI Swim Center.

EVENT BY EVENT RECAP:
The meet opened with the 3-meter dive. Savanna Berry finished second on the higher board with a 275.18, while Kaitlin Calvery turned in a 274.65.
 
In swimming, Denver turned in a win in the 200 medley relay when the quartet of Ali Beay, Tenaya Winter, Julia Saxman and Izzy Burton recorded a 1:42.56 to take the event title.
 
Moving to the 1000 free, Paige Reilly finished second in the distance race, reaching the final wall in 10:14.83. Nika Spehar finished third in 10:18.26.
 
Summit League Women's Swimming Peak Performer of the Week Samantha Synsvoll earned her first event win of the weekend in the 200 free with a time of 1:51.17 to improve on her personal-best time. Lilly Zippel finished right behind her teammate in 1:52.07.
 
Beay gave Denver wins in back-to-back event, clocking in at 55.44 to take the event win. Darian Koler finished third in 56.63 and Maria Delmonte got to the wall fourth in 57.38.
 
Winter made it three-straight wins for the Pioneers with a 1:03.92 in the women's 100 breast. Peyton Mullowney took second in 1:04.08.
 
In the second-consecutive day, Julia Saxman earned a win in the breaststroke, this time in the 200 fly with a time of 2:00.44. Sabrina Rachjaibun followed up her sixth-best time in program history, which was passed Saturday by Saxman, with a time of 2:00.47.  
 
On the other side of the break, Winter earned her third win of the day with a 51.56.
 
Mina Ada Solaker led the Pioneer swimmers in the 200 back on Saturday, taking second with a 2:02.23.
 
In the women's 200 breast, Mullowney got the Pioneers in the win column again, leading the field with a 2:16.28.
 
After finishing 0.03 seconds behind her teammate in the 200 fly, Rachjaibun did get her event win on Saturday in the 500 free, reaching the final wall in 4:56.74 to take the race by nearly four seconds ahead of Synsvoll.
 
Saxman completed a butterfly sweep, taking the 100 in 54.38, a personal best, before Synsvoll got her second win of the evening with a 2:03.10 in the 200 IM.
 
UP NEXT:
Denver will have the month of November off before the Pioneers head out for their first championship style meet of the year, the 2025 Minnesota Invite. The three-day meet begins on Thursday, December 4 and runs through December 6.
