DENVER – University of Denver women's tennis player
Louise Wikander will represent DU at the 2025 NCAA Division I Singles Championship with play set to begin on Tuesday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
First up for Wikander will be Eva Shaw from Florida State in the round of 64 at approximately 4:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. MT.
Wikander booked her spot in the championship field as an automatic qualifier by winning the ITA Mountain Regional singles title on October 11. The Denver senior did not drop a set during the regional championships.
So far during the 2025 fall season, Wikander holds a 9-3 singles record across three tournaments. A season ago, she went 18-11 in singles and played the entire dual season at the No. 2 slot for Denver.
This will be Wikander's first career appearance at the NCAA individual championships, and she becomes the eighth DU women's player to qualify for the NCAA singles tournament. DU has now had qualifiers in back-to-back years after
Andrea Burguete Beltran did so in 2024 and advanced to the round of 32 with an upset win over the then-No. 31 player in the opening round.
This is the second year of a two-year pilot program to hold the NCAA singles and doubles championships at the end of the fall season, as opposed to the end of the spring dual season in May. This year's singles and doubles champions will be crowned on Sunday, November 23. Also on the line during the tournament are ITA all-America honors.
