DU Hockey Up to No. 3 in Newest Rankings

Pioneers have won five games in a row

DENVER – The Denver Pioneers hockey team climbed up a spot to No. 3 in both the latest USCHO.com and USA Hockey polls that were released on Monday.

DU, which was previously No. 4 in both rankings last week, is coming off a series sweep during a home-and-home against then-No. 17 Colorado College, winning 2-1 in overtime on Friday and 3-2 on Saturday. The Pioneers have won five games in a row dating back to Nov. 1 against Alaska Anchorage, their longest winning streak since opening 2024-25 with 12 consecutive victories.

Michigan State remained the unanimous No. 1 team in the land in each poll while in-state foe Michigan stayed at No. 2. Minnesota Duluth dropped from No. 3 to No. 4 after splitting its series last weekend and Penn State stayed at No. 5.

The NCHC's four ranked teams are tied for second-most in each poll and joins the Big Ten with each of their four squads in the top 10.  Hockey East has seven ranked squads while the ECAC also has four programs featured in the polls.

After Denver at No. 3/3 and Minnesota Duluth at No. 4/4 is North Dakota at No. 6/6 and Western Michigan at No. 8/7.  The other five league members—Arizona State, Colorado College, Miami, Omaha and St. Cloud State—also received votes in at least one of the polls.

UP NEXT: The Pioneers head to the desert and wrap up a three-game road swing at the Arizona State Stun Devils. Friday's game begins at 7 p.m. MT and Saturday's series finale starts at 5 p.m. MT.

About the USCHO.com: The Division I men's ice hockey poll is compiled weekly and consists of 50 voters, including coaches and media professionals from across the country.

About the USA Hockey/The Rink Live Poll: The 31st annual USA Hockey Men's College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the six NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey.
