DENVER – The University of Denver women's tennis team was on site at two tournaments on Friday and finished with seven combined wins on the day.
 
At the 2025 ITA Conference Masters Championships, seniors Marley Lambert and Louise Wikander were set for their first consolation match in doubles but received a walkover from their opponents.
 
Their next match in the consolation round of 16 was originally scheduled for Saturday, but both teams opted to play on Friday evening instead. Lambert/Wikander jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead before they exchanged a couple breaks on their way to a convincing 6-2 win. The second set was closer at the start with breaks for both teams, but Lambert/Wikander won the final three games to secure the overall win.
 
Lambert/Wikander move into the consolation semifinals, scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
 
In Waco, Texas, seven more Pioneers opened play at the H-E-B Invitational, hosted by Baylor. The day began with two rounds of doubles and saw the duo of freshman Ruby Hansen and redshirt freshman Remy Nguyen collect two wins to advance to the quarterfinals, sealing the day with a bagel in their second match.
 
The seven Denver players in the field were split among six singles draws and finished with four wins overall. Hansen had the best DU result with a bagel set and only four total games lost. Senior Claudia Martinez de Velasco also won in straight sets with matching 6-3 results. Denver's two redshirt freshmen are scheduled to meet in Saturday's semifinals after Nguyen received a walkover on Friday while Natali Jaiani rallied from a set down to win a match tiebreak.
 
Two of DU's singles losses came in 10-point match tiebreaks including sophomore Natálie Cinková late at 9-11.
 
The 2025 ITA Conference Masters Championships continues on Saturday with the singles and doubles semifinals, plus consolation matches. The H-E-B Invitational at Baylor will continue on Saturday with the doubles quarterfinals followed by the doubles and singles semifinals, beginning at 9 a.m. CT/8 a.m. MT.
