NEW YORK – University of Denver men's lacrosse redshirt sophomore
Cody Malawsky was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week and freshman goalie
Grayson Manning was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Manning came on to play the final 58:01 with the Pios down 3-0, making 16 saves in the Pioneers come-from-behind win over [RV/RV] Utah on Saturday afternoon in sideways snowy conditions at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. The Denver freshman made 11 of his 16 saves in the middle two frames. Manning's save total was the most by a Denver keeper since
Jack Thompson stopped 17 shots on April 2, 2022.
Malawsky scored all five of his goals and recorded six of his seven points on the afternoon in the second half of the comeback victory. The offensive marks were both career highs. Saturday's performance was the most goals by a Pio since February 24, 2024, and the most points by a Denver student-athlete since
Stephen Avery's performance against Ohio State on March 19, 2023. Malawsky's seven points also tied for the 12
th-most in the stadium's history.
